How to Start a Music Buddies Chapter

Green Abstract

1

Recruit Buddies & Advisors

Establish a musical advisor (e.g. a band/orchestra teacher), get approval from the schools' administration, and start recruiting prospective buddies! Use the linked flyer templates below to get started.

2

Pair Buddies

Once you have both older and younger buddies ready to participate, pair them based on their instrument/voice part. We also recommend setting up a Google Classroom. Use the Google Form template linked below to collect buddy information!

3

Begin Tutoring Sessions

Send the older musicians the parent contact information of their buddies—they will be responsible for reaching out and setting up appropriate times to meet (the approx. 40-minute meetings often occur over Zoom/other virtual platforms, but could be in-person in certain cases). Share the information slides (containing meeting information and an email template to their buddy's parents) linked below with the older buddies!

It may be necessary for the younger buddies to sign forms to participate in the program. Please see the linked documents for examples/templates of the Program Waiver Form and Program Overview & Family FAQ.
